Light is a fundamental part of life. We intuitively perceive and experience our world through light. It influences our well being, it reaches our emotions, it inspires us.
At Steensen Varming our passion about light comes from the understanding of its deep connection to all being. We see light as a powerful means for communication. To realise and share a vision within any context, whether in landscape, in built environment or in art, the role of light is essential. For this communication to be "total", lighting needs to embrace natural and artificial sources and their interaction with forms, surfaces and colours.
Steensen Varming's lighting design philosophy is driven by creativity and backed by knowledge and collaboration. We have a progressive and open approach to design that is constantly in flux. We are continually investing in and researching aspects of lighting design, thus always learning and expanding our knowledge. This enables us to approach design issues with a unique methodology. Seeking inspiration from many sources and balancing a range of skills we dedicate ourselves to improving the understanding, appreciation and design of our visual environment.
